Owerri-based music producer Magiq has stirred controversy after calling out entertainers in the city. According to him, many Owerri entertainers have forgotten that entertainment is not just about sound — it’s about visibility.
Speaking during a discussion with fellow creatives, Magiq bluntly stated that most artistes in Owerri obsess over their sound while completely neglecting the visual side of their branding. “Entertainment works with two major senses,” he said. “The ears and the eyes. If one is missing, you’re not fully entertaining.”
The producer didn’t stop there. He further said that it is pointless for fans to vibe to an artiste’s sound if they can’t recognize the face behind it.
According to him, visual branding is not optional but a core part of PR, image-building, and long-term relevance in the industry.
Considering the abundance of talents in Owerri and the Southeast — from hypemen and DJs to artistes, comedians, and content creators, he insists that many creatives are sabotaging their own careers by ignoring visuals, branding, and public image.
His message was clear and unapologetic: if people only hear your sound but can’t picture you, you’re not fully an entertainer.
