On thursday Haruna Adamu has told Magajin Gari Shari’a Court in Kaduna State to order his wife identified as Salamatu Abubakar to return to her matrimonial home or return the bride price paid on her head.
According to the businessman, he does not have money to marry another wife so if his wife does not want to return to him, she should return the bride price which was paid. Going further Haruna revealed that he met his wife as a divorcee and decided to marry her but the marriage lasted for only eight months and he only enjoyed the marriage for the first two months.
He went further to say that for six months he was still sending money and foodstuff to his wife while she was still staying at her parents house.
The wife Salamatu said that she left the matrimonial home because her husband was physically abusing her and she will rather return the N75,000 paid as her bride price than to return to the man. Going further she said that her estranged husband showed no empathy towards her mother, who was sick.
The Judge, Malam Isiyaku Abdulrahman, adjourned the matter to January 17, 2024, for further hearing so as to enable the man to present a comprehensive list of the items he claimed, as well as evidence of the money he allegedly spent on the respondent.
