The video going viral on social media has shown the moment when an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed a United States citizen during during a large-scale federal immigration enforcement operation, this deadly incident that was captured on video and has sparked backlash and protests.
According to autorities, the US citizen who is identified as Renee Nicole Good, was in her vehicle near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue when federal agents approached during the ongoing operation in the city, but multiple videos shared by bystanders and on social media show the encounter unfolding, including sh0ts being fired by an ICE agent as the SUV attempted to move forward.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the use of force as “reckless” during a press, he said “They’re already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense, Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly – that is bullshit.”
According to The Minnesota City Council “the woman was out caring for her neighbors this morning and her life was taken today at the hands of the federal government.” The council statement also demanded that ICE leave the city immediately.
Kristi Noem who is the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, revealed in press conference that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were responding to a vehicle stuck in the snow when they were harassed by a “mob of agitators.”. Going further Noem said, “One of the protesters, later identified as Good, followed agents all day, Good blocked their vehicle and refused orders to move out of the way. She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle, and she attempted to run a law enforcement officer over,”
