Renowned innovation leader and youth development advocate, Remy Chukwunyere, attended the 2025 EU Innovation Fair held last week in Brussels, Belgium. The high-level gathering brought together global innovators, policymakers, researchers, and entrepreneurs to explore new frontiers in technology, innovation, and sustainable development.
During the event, Mr. Chukwunyere held a strategic meeting with Dr Signe Ratso, the Deputy Director-General for Innovation, Poverty, and International Cooperation of the European Commission. Their discussion focused on building stronger cooperation between European innovation networks and African entrepreneurship ecosystems, particularly in areas of youth empowerment, digital transformation, and inclusive economic growth.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Chukwunyere emphasized the need for deeper global partnerships that would enable African talents to thrive.
“Africa’s greatest asset is its young population. By connecting European innovation systems with African creativity and resilience, we can accelerate sustainable development and create pathways that lift millions out of poverty,” he said.
In her remarks, the Deputy Director-General for Innovation, Poverty, and International Cooperation commended Mr. Chukwunyere’s long-standing commitment to youth development and entrepreneurship in Africa.
“We are impressed by Mr. Chukwunyere’s vision for inclusive innovation and his work in nurturing young entrepreneurs across Nigeria and the wider continent. The European Commission is open to exploring strategic partnerships that leverage innovation to address shared global challenges,” she noted.
Mr. Chukwunyere, who led the Ugwumba Leadership Center for 7 years before joining InnoPower Africa Foundation, continues to champion programs that equip African youth with the skills, networks, and opportunities to compete globally.
The EU Innovation Fair 2025 served as a platform for dialogue and collaboration among innovators and institutions working to shape a more connected and sustainable world through science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
