That is indeed an exciting milestone for Rebecca Welch. On 23rd December 2023, she will become the first female referee for a Premier League match, officiating Fulham’s match against Burnley.
Rebecca, who is currently 40 years old, began her career in 2010 and made history in January by becoming the first woman to referee a men’s Championship game. She has also officiated in this year’s Championship, as well as taking charge of matches in the Women’s Super League and Women’s Champions League.
Additionally, she had the opportunity to referee at the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand during the summer. This achievement highlights her dedication and skill in the field of refereeing.
