Mother And Child Killed In Gas Explosion

News has it that a gas explosion has killed a 40 year old mother identified as Rafiat Sheriff and her seven-year-old and her child on Saturday, July 6th 2024. The ugly incident happened on Church street along Ebute road in the Ibafo area of Ogun state.

According to people living in the area, the mother asked her child to turn on the gas so they could prepare dinner when the gas exploded into flames and the apartment was consumed by fire. The police command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident by revealing that two other individuals are currently battling for their lives in the hospital.

Omolola went further to say;

“The incident occurred last night when the mother told her seven-year-old daughter to cook. The girl was attempting to light up the gas cylinder when the entire house went up in flames. The mother and the child lost their lives in the explosion. Two other girls, including one of the children of the deceased, are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.”
