WHO gives update on COVID-19 in Africa

The World Health Organization (WHO) regional office for Africa located in Brazzaville, Congo, has revealed that the number of coronavirus cases in Africa has risen to over 489,000 in the past 24 hours.

WHO also said that 235,000 people have recovered from the virus across 54 countries in Africa.

The health agency gave this update in a tweet via its official Twitter account on Tuesday.

According to the tweet, it has been reported that COVID-19 has killed 11,500 people.

“Over 489,000 confirmed #COVID19 cases on the African continent – with more than 235,000 recoveries & 11,500 deaths,”

WHO tweeted.

According to the WHO African region COVID-19 dashboard, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria and Ghana are countries with the highest cases
