Real Madrid new boy Reinier has admitted manager Zinedine Zidane and Kaka were his idols as a kid and revealed he can’t wait to play with Karim Benzema.
The Brazilian will join the club after his nation’s participation in the Olympics this summer and has signed a six-year contract with the Spanish side in a deal worth £25million.
During his first interview with the Spanish giants, Reinier put himself straight in the manager’s good books by revealing Zidane was his idol as a kid.
When asked who his hero was, the midfielder replied: ‘I’ve got two – Zidane and Kaka.
‘Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world and they’ve always had great squads.
‘Ever since I was a boy, my dad always encouraged me to watch Real Madrid’s games.’
Reinier will join the Castilla side at first and arrives in Spain as player for the future, rather than heading straight into Real Madrid’s first-team setup.
Asked who is looking forward to playing with when he makes the step up to the first tea, he replied: ‘Benzema. He’s a player I like a lot.
‘He has a good understanding with the rest of the team.’
Reinier has caught the eye with a series of impressive midfield displays this season, scoring six goals in 14 first-team games for Flamengo this season.
He made his debut for the Flamengo senior team in July last year and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the hottest properties in South American football.
