Senegalese-American singer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Akon has disclosed that it is futile to show off his wealth when people in Africa are suffering.
He stated that showing off jewellery doesn’t matter to him anymore and that he has decided to use his money to help others especially people in Africa.
He revealed that his desire for luxury reduced when he noticed the poor development in Africa.
“Showing off is no longer my delirium, I don’t wear jewellery anymore. I’ve seen so many people in need until I feel guilty visiting the villages. Showing up with $50,000 earrings is useless. It’s just tape to the eye that only serves to look good in front of others. That’s why I decided to use my money to help others” Akon asserted in a meeting with the press.
The popular Senegalese-American singer, also detailed that he has raised about 1 billion dollars to finance projects in Africa.
