Members of the Boko Haram group have put up their flag in some areas of the Marte Local Government located in Borno State.
It was reported that the terrorist group attacked the area last week and also the neighboring Local Government Dikwa was not left out of the attack. However, the were opposed by the air and ground forces of the Operation Lafiya in a battle which lasted for hours.
The insurgents also laid an ambush for the reinforcements deployed from the theatre command headquarters located in Maiduguri.
While the casualty figure for the attack is still unknown, it is however coming barely two months after the Borno state government resettled 500 households in New Marte. Some soldiers injured from Marte have since been evacuated to Maiduguri where they are currently being treated.
