Barcelona are desperately in need of a new striker this January after losing Luis Suarez to injury. The club has spotted their former rivals striker as a good cover for the 32-year-old.
The Suarez suffered a knee injury that will rule him out for the next four months and the Catalans are close to bringing in former Real Madrid striker Rodrigo Moreno who currently plays for Valencia as his replacement.
The club are looking for a striker who will adapt to the club’s style of play under Quique Setien and also start performing well without wasting time, Rodrigo comes in as a good option in that aspect bearing in mind that the Spanish international is already used to the Spanish Laliga.
Even though Barcelona are in pole position to sign the former Real Madrid striker from Valencia, there is a little hiccup for the Catalans as Los Che are not willing to sell the Spanish international for anything less than 60 million euros.
Paying such amount for Rodrigo might cause financial headaches for Barcelona because they already need a sum of 124m euros in transfer sales by the summer.
Other options Barcelona are considering are Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner who is currently the highest goalscorer in the German Bundesliga.
Barcelona face Rodrigo’s Valencia this weekend but the former Benfica striker is a doubt for the match due to injury.
