Owerri witnessed drama amd banter as the OTown Celebrity League officially kicked off, and trust us—this one didn’t go the way many expected.
The much-talked-about celebrity football competition, created to strengthen love, unity and support among entertainers in the city, went down at the popular 90 Degree Sports Arena, a state-of-the-art 5-Aside football pitch in Owerri. But while the idea was unity, what fans got was serious competition and unexpected results.

The league brings together Artistes, Disc Jockeys, Hypemen, Comedians, Influencers and Event Heads, all battling for bragging rights on the pitch. With four teams, two semi-finals and one final.

The first semi-final, held on February 7, 2026, had the city buzzing as several entertainers showed up to support their colleagues. However, the real shocker came when the Artistes failed to live up to expectations, losing 2–1 to the DJs in a tightly contested match, with fans questioning whether studio vibes truly translate to football skills.

As if that wasn’t enough embarrassment for the “music stars,” Hypemen and Comedians outplayed Influencers and Event Heads, sealing a dramatic 6–4 victory. The high-energy performance left many wondering if hype on the mic actually equals dominance on the pitch.

With the end of the first semi final, all eyes are on the final showdown, a final that already promises bragging rights and endless online banter.
